A Tale Of Two Guitars
Here are my boys. I’ve had the Stratocaster on the right for 40 years. Back in the late 90’s my good friend Dave Black recommended a guitar technician to me. He also suggested bumping my string gauge up from 9’s to gauge 10. Well, Peter, I think his name was, in Cramlington did a great job. My first gig with the Strat sporting gauge 10’s was a bit uncomfortable but I got used to them. Now the more recent addition, the Epiphone Sheraton also sports gauge 10’s but with it’s longer scale length the 10’s feel more comfortable than the Strat. So I’m going to take the Strat back to 9’s. This will mean a trip to Stokesley to see brill guitarist and guitar Tech Dave Dryden for another setup. I feel guilty to have deserted the Strat for a while so maybe I’ll start to use it more on shows if I can get comfortable with it again. Dave Dryden has sorted out the electrics and everything on it. I just feel the Epi is more of a songwriters instrument and my show is about songwriting, playing and telling the stories behind the songs I wrote for people like Celine Dion, The Tygers of Pan Tang etc. Come and see the next show in March and hear the songs and the stories https://georgiantheatre.co.uk/live-event/steve-thompson-songwriter
