“Steve Thompson: Songwriter”, Saltburn Community Theatre
Tuesday 4th April, 7.30 PM
Steve Thompson has written songs that have been recorded by Celine Dion, Sheena Easton, Elkie Brooks, The Hollies, The Searchers, The Tygers of Pan Tang, Baby Ford, Colin Blunstone, Elaine Paige, Sarah Brightman, Wavelength and Chris Farlowe. Soon you will be to see his own band play the songs that he’s written for major artists.
“Steve Thompson – Songwriter” is more than just a gig, it’s a show. There will be fascinating stories behind the songs, from the man who wrote them as well as images and video.
Guitarist Steve is joined by renowned local musicians Paul Smith, Dean Stockdale and Richard Rutherford. To reflect how these songs were brought to the attention of the major artists, the local vocalists who originally sang on the demo versions of the tracks will appear with the band to sing new versions of the songs. These singers include Mick Whitaker, Terry Slesser (Beckett, Back Street Crawler), Lorraine Crosby (who sang with MeatLoaf on ‘I Would Do Anything for Love’) and Kerrianne Covell who was a big hit on X Factor, making it as far as judges houses.
This will be a unique opportunity to see so many of the region’s favourite singers on the same bill.
